In Style magazine's Fall Fashion Fever touts tarty shades of pink as the new black for fall 2008.

Editor's Choice

Flipping through the September 2008 edition of In Style magazine, it's obvious advertisers are falling in line with this color selection. From Target’s Mossimo line ranging from medium pink to fuchsia to Marc Jacobs’ gorgeous shell pink silk crepe dress, this hue is one that is getting a lot of play. Ditto Valentino and Givenchy, who are showing garments in this color that are ruffled, layered, or sleekly tailored.

Pink Hues for Fall 2008

What are the choices this fall for pink? Think shell to icy pink to rose petals to bright cotton candy to fuchsia. It’s a feminine color, yet pink combines so well with darker, masculine shades.

Pink Loves Brown

Hands down, it’s never wrong to combine pink with brown gemstones and gold-toned jewelry. One item to watch, however, is the fact that many designers are teaming pink with ruffles. Elaborate jewelry with ruffled garments is overkill. A lot of ruffles: keep jewelry simple. Wearing a top with ruffled tiers as shown in the Target.com Mossimo image accompanying this article? Wear a tiger's eye gemstone necklace to fill in the expanse of skin in the chest area.

Brown Gemstones

There is quite an array of inexpensive brown semi-precious gemstones. Here are just a few:

  • Brown topaz – topaz is quite often mined as light brown and then heat-treated to create other colors. As it’s readily available in brown, it’s quite inexpensive.
  • Smoky quartz –due to its abundance, smoky quartz is also very inexpensive.
  • Tiger’s Eye – an opaque gemstone that shows rippled and wavy bands of various shades of brown

Jewelry Suggestion for Pink Garments

Karated gold, gold filled or gold plated jewelry coordinates nicely with most shades of pink. On a budget? Check out these gorgeous fashionable jewelry suggestions:

  • Gold Starfish Bracelet – recently featured in People magazine, it’s made of lead-free pewter and coated with a gold matte finish. Quite a buy for $30.
  • Spirit Bracelet – a slightly more sophisticated look priced at $36, it’s also made of lead-free pewter and coated with a gold matte finish.
  • Smoky Quartz Earrings – retailing at $27, these earrings are made from smoky quartz faceted gemstones with gold plated components.
  • Bows & Hearts Earrings - gold plate teardrop earrings with pink accents. The deep pink of the fabric bows coordinate well with a lighter pink garment. These gorgeous earrings retail for $27.
  • Tiger’s Eye Beaded Necklace – Available from Amazon.com this necklace provides simple elegance at a budget price. Round 4mm tiger’s eye beads, 24 inches in length with a sterling silver clasp. Wrapped three times, it can double as a bracelet. A fantastic buy at $29.
