The first article in this series about Chakra gemstone jewelry covered the first five Chakra energy centers: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart and Throat. This article will discuss the remaining two Chakra energy centers and give information on cleansing Chakra gemstone jewelry.
The use of gemstone jewelry for the mind, body and spirit dates back as far as recorded history. The notion of the healing power of gemstones is not all that farfetched. Consider, for example, the gemstone bloodstone – its most common medical use prior to modern medical techniques was to halt bleeding. Bloodstone contains iron oxide, which is an effective coagulator – still in use in modern surgery.
The Third Eye or Brow Chakra is located in the middle of the forehead between the eyes.These purple and blue gemstones are used to balance the Third Eye Chakra:
- Amethyst - a vibrant red-violet gemstone. Amethyst is also the birthstone for those born in February.
- Fluorite - a beautiful translucent gemstone that is mined in many different colors: clear, yellow, blue, green and combinations of these three colors.
- Lapis Lazuli - a blue gemstone often with gold flecks that is also used for the Throat Chakra. Many gemstones are useful for more than one Chakra energy center.
- Sodalite - This gemstone is very similar to lapis lazuli in appearance. It is a deep blue gemstone flecked with white. However, it is missing the gold markings found in lapis and it is much more commonly found than lapis lazuli. Therefore, it is a much less expensive blue gemstone than lapis.
The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head.These gemstones are used to balance the Crown Chakra:
- Amethyst - discussed above.
- Clear Crystal Quartz - Diamond is the best clear gemstone to use to balance the Crown Chakra. However, clear crystal quartz is a fine substitute.
- Jade - a beautiful rich, deep green stone. While jade is mined in other colors, the deep green color of jade is best used to balance the Crown Chakra.
How to cleanse Chakra gemstone jewelry:
Those that wear this jewelry with a purpose periodically cleanse their jewelry to remove day-to-day bad vibes. The soaking method detailed below is quite simple.
- Dissolve a pinch of salt into a bowl of lukewarm water using a glass bowl. Circle the bowl with a strand of amethyst chips or beads. Soak the Chakra jewelry overnight. The ideal time to cleanse Chakra jewelry is during the three-day period before a full moon.
