Warm Jewel Colors Fashion ForecastCoordinate your Colored Gemstone Jewelry to this Fall's Fashions
Find out what colored gemstones will harmonize with the fall and winter warm colors coming down the runway.
This is the second of a two-part series of articles discussing the Fall and Winter 2007 color palette for garments and how to select colored gemstone jewelry to accent these colors. This first article discussed colored gemstone jewelry for the cool blue, purple and green hues. Sometimes it is just plain hard to accurately describe an exact hue or tone, so get out your box of 64 Crayola crayons to use as a guide to various colored garments being shown on the runways. Selected are three warm colors that are representative of what has been seen to date on the runways:
None of these colors are primary colors – they are secondary or tertiary colors. Using a color wheel you can quickly select colored gemstone jewelry to compliment or create a monochromatic look with these three popular fall and winter hues. The color wheel article also explains the difference between primary, secondary and tertiary colors Tumbleweed – a dark tannish color. This color is similar to taupe. Every season a variation of taupe is shown on the runways. With the regularity that taupe is shown, it can really be considered a wardrobe basic. Pair a white garment with taupe and you have a cool and clean summer look. Pair taupe with a black garment and you have a sophisticated winter look. To compliment tumbleweed you would wear a dark bluish gemstone such as lapis lazuli (check out the November Birthstone article to see this color combination), blue sapphire or aquamarine. The darker the aquamarine the better - unfortunately light blue aquamarine is less expensive than the rich sky blue shade of aquamarine. Teaming tumbleweed with deep yellow citrine would create a monochromatic look. Tumbleweed would also look fantastic with white Opal that has some nice flashes or Mexican Fire Opal. Scarlet – a deep, vibrant red color. Green is directly across the color wheel from red. Wear green gemstones for a complimentary color scheme – emerald, green jade or malachite would all look great. Carnelian and rose quartz would make for an attractive monochromatic look. Ruby would also serve to create a monochromatic look. However, it is almost a waste of the talent of ruby to serve it up next to a red garment. Experiment by placing the ruby jewelry against the garment to make sure the look is attractive and not boring. Dandelion – wear turquoise or blue apatite to create a complimentary look and citrine or peridot to create a monochromatic look. Polka Dots are also being seen in fashion shows. Hands down the best color gemstone to wear with a black and white polka dot printed fabric would be peridot. The brilliant spring green of this color looks stunning, sharp and clean with a black and white combo. It does not make any difference if your dominate color in the polka dot is black or white – peridot is still a good colored gemstone pick.
